About Us

Stories That Bind, Inc. is a non-profit, charitable organization committed to creating community-engaged art works, i.e., Happenings for Humanity, that facilitate a shared love of place among community members. We use cross-disciplinary artistic mediums to highlight how our individual stories can blend together to create a unique sense of community. The organization's Happenings are designed to eliminate the biases that divide us and instead foster a love of our fellow neighbor. We aim to cultivate conversations of unity that drown out the noise of difference and fear. Our vision is to instill a strong sense of belonging and acceptance that transcends the ideologies and prejudices that keep us apart.

Our Story

We have long wanted to share our hearts with the world and Stories That Bind is our way of accomplishing this goal. By creating projects of creativity, we hope to instill a strong sense of belonging and acceptance between one another that transcends the ideologies and prejudices that keep us apart.

Both born and raised in Beaumont, Texas, we are bound together as lifelong friends. We both grew up knowing what it means to have roots that live deep within no matter where we may wander. We share a love of the place we came from, a love of the places we moved on to and settled into today.  This shared love of place is a large part of our story and what continues to bind us - we travel extensively together and love seeing new places, meeting new people, and hearing stories!  This is what drew us to our first project and ultimately the formation of our nonprofit, Stories That Bind.

The projects we create are our response to the division and separation that seem to permeate our world today. We believe everyone has a story to share, a narrative that binds us together and reminds us of our unity and commonalities. Through these shared stories we aim to cultivate conversations of authenticity and love that drown out the noise of difference and fear.

We hope you'll join us in creating more stories that bind even more people together.

With gratitude,
